Rolls is only crafting 120 of them
The Ghost may be Rolls-Royce’s smaller, “entry-level” offering, but those descriptors carry little weight when associated with the illustrious British manufacturer. With a starting price of nearly $350,000, the Ghost boasts exclusivity comparable to its larger siblings, yet the recently unveiled Prism model promises an even more elusive ownership experience.
Rolls-Royce has declared the production of only 120 units of the car to commemorate its 120th anniversary in 2024, although the exact number of units already spoken for remains undisclosed. As customary with such releases, esteemed clientele and notable personalities typically enjoy precedence in acquiring exclusive models, serving as living showcases for the brand. Last year marked the brand’s pinnacle, achieving its highest-ever sales figure by delivering over 6,000 vehicles in 2023, with the United States and remarkable expansion in the Middle East leading the charge.
The automaker's demonstration vehicle arrived in a Gunmetal gray hue, meticulously polished by hand for 16 hours using a ten-step process that entails four layers of paint application. A lustrous black-gray shade adorns the grille and trunk lid, requiring a polishing technique that renders the paints with a metallic sheen. The juxtaposition of dark tones accented by vibrant hues aims to evoke the imagery of a prism, thus inspiring the moniker of the car.
Prospective buyers are offered a choice among four accent colors: Forge Yellow, Mandarin, Phoenix Red, and Mandarin. These accents grace the brake calipers, lower bumper inserts, and coachline—a stylistic element that harmonizes the "mechanical, aerodynamic, and sculptural elements of Ghost," according to Rolls. Within the cabin, the car boasts Rolls-Royce’s renowned Starlight Headliner, adorned with 1,040 individual LED "stars" illuminating the interior roof.
While these exclusive features constitute the allure of the Ghost Prism, Rolls assures buyers access to its entire spectrum of colors, materials, and options. Most purchasers further elevate the already lofty acquisition prices with substantial customizations, driving the average purchase price well beyond what's initially listed.
